Volunteering at Serving the Block reminds me why community matters. It’s not just about preparing food—it’s about showing up for people and being part of something bigger.
When I watch the news and see all the hardship going on in the world, I always wonder how I can do something to help. Serving meals on Saturday to people in need gives me a chance to do something other than just talk about it.
I never realized that when I helped others that I would actually be blessed as well. I’ve met people from all different walks of life who have nuggets of wisdom that only life can teach you. Now I bring my son with me so that it can impact his view of life.
